ApplicantStack AI Resume Screening: Score Candidates Before They Hit Your Pipeline
Screened scores every ApplicantStack applicant who clears your Knockout Questions and surfaces a score, red flags, and a recommendation — real evaluations, not just questionnaire answers and open KOs, before anyone opens a resume.
Where Screened fits in ApplicantStack
ApplicantStack is Swipeclock's applicant tracking and onboarding system, sold directly, bundled into WorkforceHub, or distributed white-label through the 1,000+ payroll providers and PEOs that resell it.
It's built for small and mid-sized employers — senior care and healthcare, education, nonprofits, government, and multi-location retail and service businesses — that need to post jobs, screen applicants with knockout questionnaires, and move candidates through an Application Workflow without an enterprise-scale ATS.
Most accounts run ApplicantStack Recruit for hiring and either add ApplicantStack Onboard or take the combined Bundle plan for new-hire paperwork.
What Screened takes off your plate in ApplicantStack
A senior-care or retail req can pull 200+ applicants overnight from Indeed and ZipRecruiter feeds. Knockout Questions (work authorization, availability, required license) auto-mark unqualified candidates KO in the Score column, but everyone who passes still needs a human to read every resume before the Pipeline Summary's candidate count means anything. Screened picks up where Knockout Questions leave off, scoring every candidate who passes against the job's actual requirements instead of leaving that pile for a recruiter to work through one by one.
TA leads open the Pipeline Summary each morning to see candidate counts by job and stage, then filter the Candidates tab by Job, Stage, Source, Score, and Rating to decide who moves to Interview.
Those native columns only fill in as your team works — Score from questionnaire answers, Rating typed in by hand after a resume read. Screened runs alongside them: every candidate who clears your Knockout Questions gets a 0-100 score and a recommendation in Screened the moment they land in the workflow, so shortlist decisions run on real evaluations from day one instead of waiting for a manual review backlog to clear.
ApplicantStack tags every applicant with a Source — Indeed, LinkedIn, career site, a ZipRecruiter feed — and recruiters juggling several boards on one req often end up reviewing them inconsistently: a quick skim of 40 LinkedIn applicants, a full read of 6 who applied direct. Screened scores every candidate against the same job requirements regardless of Source, so nobody gets a lighter read just because of which board's feed they came in on.
Every stage change in the Application Workflow can trigger an automated email or, with Premium Texting, a text — but a recruiter still has to decide who's ready to move and write up why. Screened's recommendation, and for phone-screened roles the interview transcript, give hiring managers the reasoning already sitting in Screened, so moving someone from a screening stage to Interview is a decision made from what's already on the record, not a fresh resume read.
How Screened works with ApplicantStack
Connecting ApplicantStack to Screened takes a few clicks: you authorize the connection from your ApplicantStack account, your open jobs and candidates flow into Screened, and your team reviews every screening result in Screened — no engineering, no CSV exports, no custom build.
When a candidate clears your Knockout Questions and sits in a job's Application Workflow, Screened reads their resume against that job's requirements and produces a 0-100 score, flagged red flags, and years of experience, then surfaces the score and a hire/no-hire recommendation in Screened — a ranked read on everyone who cleared your knockouts, ready to act on alongside the Candidates tab and Pipeline Summary views your team already works.
For the high-volume, high-turnover roles ApplicantStack is common for — senior-care aides, drivers, retail and call-center staff — Screened can also run an AI phone or text screening interview once a candidate passes your questionnaire, then surface the transcript, per-question scores, and recommendation in Screened before a hiring manager moves them into an Interview stage.
Once a candidate is flagged as a strong fit, Screened can coordinate interview scheduling directly with the candidate and hiring manager, so the only manual step left in the Application Workflow is confirming the stage change once time is booked.
Built around how ApplicantStack works
Screened fits the objects and stages your team already uses in ApplicantStack.
The configurable sequence of stages every candidate moves through for a job. A default version ships with every ApplicantStack Recruit account, and moving a candidate to a new stage can trigger automated emails or texts.
The home-page view listing each open job with a candidate count per stage — click a number to jump into the Candidates tab already filtered to that job and stage.
Mandatory questions on a job's application questionnaire (work authorization, required license, availability); a disqualifying answer automatically marks the candidate KO before anyone reviews a resume.
Two separate, filterable columns in the Candidates tab: Score is calculated from a candidate's questionnaire answers (or shows KO/N-A), while Rating is a value a hiring team member assigns based on qualifications.
ApplicantStack's SMS feature. Basic Texting is manual and unlimited; Premium Texting is a paid add-on that automates texts tied to Application Workflow stage changes and supports text-to-apply.
ApplicantStack's product and pricing split: Recruit is the ATS-only plan, Onboard is the new-hire paperwork and e-signature module, and Bundle combines both under one login and price.
Review candidate fit and authenticity
Bring screening assessments and potential authenticity concerns into your team’s review. Use the written findings to decide where a closer look is needed.
Common questions
You link your ApplicantStack account to Screened directly — authorize it once and your jobs and candidates sync into Screened. No developer work, no custom API project, and nothing to install. Screening scores, transcripts, and recommendations live in Screened, side by side with the candidate's ApplicantStack details.
Alongside them. Knockout Questions still run first inside your ApplicantStack questionnaire and mark a candidate KO in the Score column exactly as they do today — Screened doesn't touch that logic. Screened picks up candidates who pass your knockouts, scores their resume against the job requirements, and produces a 0-100 score and hire/no-hire recommendation in Screened, so you get a hard knockout filter you already trust plus a ranked shortlist for everyone who's left.
Yes. The Source tag ApplicantStack assigns (Indeed, LinkedIn, career site, and so on) doesn't change how Screened evaluates a candidate. Every applicant is scored against the same job requirements regardless of which board's Source entry they came in with, so heavy volume on one board doesn't mean a lighter read than a candidate who applied direct.
Only Recruit, or the Recruit half of a Bundle plan. Screened works with the hiring pipeline — Application Workflow, Candidates tab, Pipeline Summary — before a candidate is marked Hired. Onboard's new-hire paperwork, e-signatures, and payroll handoff happen after that point and aren't part of what AI screening touches.
Yes. For roles where a resume alone isn't enough to decide — caregiver, driver, retail, and other high-volume positions common in ApplicantStack accounts — Screened can run an AI voice or text screening interview once a candidate clears your questionnaire, then surface the transcript, per-question scores, and a recommendation in Screened before you move them to an Interview stage.
Screened highlights potential concerns in resumes and checks interview answers against the job requirements. Your team can review the written reasons and interview transcript, then ask follow-up questions about experience that needs clarification.
Screened keeps assessments and written reasons for candidates screened through ApplicantStack. Open the Screened candidate profile to review activity, or export a CSV of the latest decisions. For hiring decisions made in ApplicantStack, use its own records. See the screening records guide.
