Bullhorn AI Screening Tool: Score and Screen Candidates Automatically
Screened scores resumes and runs AI voice or text screening interviews when a candidate is tied to one of your Job Orders. The Bullhorn integration is available on request.
Where Screened fits in Bullhorn
Bullhorn is the applicant tracking system and CRM built specifically for staffing and recruiting agencies — not general corporate HR — combining Job Order and candidate pipeline tracking with client and sales relationship management in one system.
It runs contingency, retained, and temp/contract desks of every size, from solo recruiters to large enterprise staffing firms, with over 10,000 agencies on the platform worldwide.
Recruiters live in Bullhorn's Job Order, Submission, and Candidate records all day, and increasingly in its native AI layer, Bullhorn Amplify, which includes a built-in screening feature called Amplify Screen.
What Screened takes off your plate in Bullhorn
When a recruiter creates an Internal Submission attaching a candidate to a Job Order, Screened scores the resume 0-100 against that Job Order's requirements, flagging red flags and years of experience before anyone picks up the phone — so the job owner reviewing that Submission already knows who's worth a call.
Bullhorn's own standard workflow includes a Prescreen step before Internal Submission — a recruiter call to size up fit — that many agencies track with a custom workflow icon and a note action. Screened's AI voice or text interview does that conversation automatically and produces the transcript and recommendation a recruiter needs to log that note action, which lights up the same icon and rolls into the same Pre-Screens column your Recruiting Activity report already totals.
Desks often build a Tearsheet (some tenants call it a Hotlist) of, say, active React developers, before deciding which Job Order to run them against. Screened needs job requirements to score against, so its screening activates once a candidate is tied to a specific Job Order — not while they're still sitting in that general-purpose Tearsheet.
Once a candidate clears screening, Screened coordinates the next interview automatically instead of a recruiter trading emails to find a time — so a desk can move from Internal Submission to Client Submission (Sendout) faster, with the score and transcript already finished for whoever approves the Sendout.
How Screened works with Bullhorn
A candidate gets an Internal Submission against one of your Job Orders (or is invited directly); Screened scores the resume 0-100 against that Job Order's requirements, surfacing red flags and years of experience.
Candidates who clear your bar get an AI phone or text screening interview — Screened asks role-specific questions and produces a transcript with per-question scores and a hire/no-hire recommendation.
Screened schedules the next interview automatically for candidates who pass, instead of a recruiter coordinating calendars by email.
The score, results link, and recommendation are ready in Screened before a recruiter logs the Prescreen or Screened action against the Submission — logged from a finished result rather than a raw resume, it still rolls into the Pre-Screens column on your existing Recruiting Activity report the same way it does today. Writing that note back automatically is available on request.
Built around how Bullhorn works
Screened fits the objects and stages your team already uses in Bullhorn.
Bullhorn's record for an open requisition a client needs filled; it's the object Screened scores a resume's fit against.
The step after Prescreen in Bullhorn's standard hiring workflow — a recruiter attaches a candidate to a Job Order for the job owner to review before the client ever sees them.
The next step, when a recruiter sends a candidate's details to the client contact for interview approval; many tenants rename this status "Sendout" or "CV Sent."
A static, admin-renameable list (Bullhorn's own docs note it's "also called a hotlist") for organizing a pool of candidates independent of any Job Order, built for short-term tracking rather than mass mail.
A global flag (Active, Do Not Use, DNA, and similar) on the candidate record showing whether to recruit them at all — separate from their per-Job-Order Submission status.
Bullhorn's own native AI screening feature, available on Bullhorn Amplify Edition, built from Bullhorn Automation blueprints that generate questions per Job Order and run a chat-plus-voice conversation.
Review candidate fit and authenticity

Common questions
It needs a Job Order. Screened's resume score is generated against a specific set of job requirements, so it can't grade someone who's just parked in a general-purpose Tearsheet (or Hotlist, if your admin renamed it under Entity Titles) with no job attached. A common pattern is building a Tearsheet of, say, active candidates in one skill set, then deciding which Job Order to run them against — Screened's scoring kicks in once that candidate is tied to the Job Order, typically at Internal Submission.
Amplify Screen is Bullhorn's native screening feature, and it only runs if your agency is on Bullhorn Amplify Edition: an admin sets it up using Bullhorn Automation blueprints that auto-generate questions from a Job Order's description and invite candidates once they're submitted, then run a chat-plus-AI-voice conversation. Screened is a separate product that isn't part of that upsell — it scores resumes 0-100 against job requirements before anyone is invited to a conversation, and runs its own AI voice or text screening interview, producing the score, transcript, and recommendation regardless of whether Amplify Screen is switched on.
Those are two different fields, and it's worth being deliberate about which one moves. Submission Status is the per-Job-Order pipeline value (Internal Submission, Client Submission/Sendout, Interview, Placement) that Bullhorn's workflow icons track; Candidate Status (Active, Do Not Use, DNA, and similar) is a global flag about whether to recruit the person at all, independent of any job. Screened's score, results link, and recommendation sit on the candidate in Screened, so whoever owns your workflow configuration decides whether a screened candidate should move Submission Status, Candidate Status, or neither. Syncing that back automatically is available on request.
Bullhorn is available on request. Just ask us about it when you talk to sales. Screening itself needs no developer work, no custom API project, and nothing to install on your side.
Yes, once the result is on the record. Bullhorn Automation triggers on field changes, statuses, and notes across your data, so a Screened score or status recorded against a Submission is a valid trigger for an Automation, like notifying the hiring manager once a score clears your bar. Bullhorn Automation is also the same engine Amplify Screen's own blueprints run on, so if your agency already has Amplify Screen blueprints active, check with whoever owns Bullhorn Automation so a Screened-triggered workflow and an Amplify Screen blueprint don't both fire on the same candidate.
Screened highlights potential concerns in resumes and checks interview answers against the job requirements. Your team can review the written reasons and interview transcript, then ask follow-up questions about experience that needs clarification.
Screened keeps assessments and written reasons for candidates screened through Bullhorn. Open the Screened candidate profile to review activity, or export a CSV of the latest decisions. For hiring decisions made in Bullhorn, use its own records. See the screening records guide.
