AI Resume Screening for Join: Score Candidates When They Reach Application Review
Screened scores every applicant who lands in your Join Application Review stage, runs AI phone screens for the ones worth a conversation, and produces the results — score, transcript, recommendation. The Join integration is available on request.
Where Screened fits in Join
Join is an applicant tracking system built for small and mid-sized companies across Europe — primarily DACH, France, and Spain — that don't have a dedicated recruiting team and, per Join's own positioning, shouldn't need one to hire well.
Its core pitch pairs job-ad distribution (one ad posted to 10+ free and up to 250+ premium job boards) with a lightweight applicant pipeline, so a small team can post, track, and hire without stitching together separate tools.
Day to day, recruiters work inside Join's Cards or table view, moving applicants through a pipeline that always includes the same four fixed stages — Applied, Application Review, Offer, Hired — with any custom interview or assessment stages added in between.
What Screened takes off your plate in Join
Post a job to Join's 10+ free boards plus any of its 250+ premium boards, and every resulting application — regardless of source — lands in the same Application Review stage, Join's fixed second pipeline stage. Screened scores each resume 0-100 against that job's requirements as it arrives and produces the score plus a qualifications summary, so whoever is working the Application Review column in Cards view goes by fit instead of opening every CV in order.
Every custom stage a Join pipeline adds between Application Review and Offer needs a Stage type — Application review or Interview — picked once when the stage is created and locked afterward. Teams commonly reserve a stage typed Interview for a first phone screen; Screened can run that call automatically for anyone who clears Application Review and produce the transcript, per-question scores, and a hire/no-hire recommendation before a human interviewer opens the file.
Join's screening questions — Boolean, single-select, multi-select, numeric, or date type — can be marked Knockout, so an answer like 'no work permit' auto-rejects the application overnight without a recruiter touching it. That logic only checks pass/fail facts, though; it can't judge what's actually in the resume.
Screened picks up where the knockout gate leaves off, scoring and ranking everyone who passes it so the Application Review queue is scored and ranked, not just pre-filtered.
Join only auto-adds Spontaneous Applications — submitted through the dedicated card Join places at the bottom of a career page's Open positions list, a pattern common with DACH-region candidates applying with no specific vacancy in mind — to the Talent Pool. Anyone who applied to an actual job stays attached to that job unless a recruiter opens their profile and manually clicks Add to Talent Pool.
When a new role opens, Screened can score the Spontaneous Application queue and any profiles a recruiter has manually saved, instead of someone re-reading each one from scratch.
How Screened works with Join
A Join integration would run through the Join API, available on Join's Advanced and Enterprise plans — the same gated API key that Join's own Zapier and Make integrations require, so there's no separate lower-tier automation path on Standard.
As applications reach Join's Application Review stage — the fixed second stage every applicant lands in, regardless of which job board or multiposting channel they applied through — Screened scores each resume 0-100 against the job's requirements and extracts key qualifications, red flags, and years of experience.
For candidates worth a conversation, Screened runs an AI voice or text screening interview, typically before the candidate reaches whichever custom stage a recruiter has set the Stage type to Interview, and produces the transcript, per-question scores, and a hire/no-hire recommendation.
On a Join profile, Scorecards and Assessments are their own tabs — reserved for a live interviewer panel's ratings and any skills tests — and Screened touches neither: the score, recommendation, and results link are ready in Screened before anyone notes them on the candidate profile or moves it to the next stage. Writing them back as a note automatically is available on request.
Built around how Join works
Screened fits the objects and stages your team already uses in Join.
The four fixed stages present on every Join pipeline. They can't be renamed, reordered, or removed; custom stages a team adds — a phone screen, a take-home assessment — are inserted between Application Review and Offer, or between Offer and Hired.
A required setting on every custom stage in a Join pipeline: Application review or Interview. It's chosen when the stage is created and can't be changed afterward — changing it means deleting the stage and adding a new one.
Join's kanban-style pipeline layout, where each column is a stage and each applicant is a card that gets dragged between columns; recruiters choose which candidate details show on the card face.
A screening question on a job's application form — Boolean, single-select, multi-select, numeric, or date type — that a recruiter can mark Knockout so a disqualifying answer (no work permit, can't start on time) auto-rejects the applicant the next day, before anyone reviews the file.
An application submitted through the dedicated card Join adds to the bottom of a company's public career page, with no specific job attached.
Join's store of candidates not tied to a current opening. Spontaneous Applications are added here automatically; applicants who applied to a real job stay attached to that job unless a recruiter opens their profile and clicks Add to Talent Pool.

Common questions
Add a custom stage between Application Review and Offer and set its Stage type to Interview — the one field every custom stage requires, and it can't be changed once the stage is created. Screened can run the AI phone or voice screen for candidates entering that stage and have the transcript, scores, and a recommendation ready before a human interviewer picks up the file.
Not with an automated sync. Join is available on request, and any sync we build would need API access, which Join gates to its Advanced and Enterprise plans — both Zapier and Make run on that same API key, so there's no cheaper automation path available on Standard. Screened can still screen and score your candidates and deliver results to your team outside Join in the meantime.
No. Scorecards is its own tab on a Join candidate profile, built for a live interviewer panel's ratings, separate from the Assessments tab where skills tests live. Screened doesn't write into either one — its resume score, AI phone-screen transcript, and recommendation stay in Screened, ready for whoever notes them on the profile, so the automated read sits alongside the panel's Scorecard rather than replacing it.
Yes. Join's Talent Pool automatically holds Spontaneous Applications — submitted with no job attached — plus any candidate a recruiter has manually saved from a past application. When you open a new role, Screened can score that pool against the new job's requirements instead of someone re-reading every profile, though it won't touch applicants attached only to a live job unless they're also added to the pool.
Yes — Join funnels every application into the same Application Review stage no matter which of its 10+ free or 250+ premium boards a candidate came through, and Screened scores each one the same way as it lands, so a bigger multiposting push doesn't turn into a bigger manual backlog.
Screened highlights potential concerns in resumes and checks interview answers against the job requirements. Your team can review the written reasons and interview transcript, then ask follow-up questions about experience that needs clarification.
Screened keeps assessments and written reasons for candidates screened through Join. Open the Screened candidate profile to review activity, or export a CSV of the latest decisions. For hiring decisions made in Join, use its own records. See the screening records guide.
