AI resume screening, built into
Greenhouse
Every application landing in your Greenhouse intake stage is scored 0-100 against the role, with the reasoning attached and the result written straight back. Sort by fit score, filter by tag.

Screening that actually reads
If you came here to evaluate Greenhouse on AI-assisted candidate screening and application review, start here. Keyword matching tells you which resumes contain the right words. Greenhouse resume screening by Screened judges whether the experience behind them actually fits the role — and shows its working.
Every application reaching your intake stage is read against the job's must-haves, scored, and explained — which requirements were met, which were missed, and where the resume does not look genuine.
Lands as a 0–100 fit score, a recommendation, a written assessment, and a tag.
Most teams start with resume screening alone. When a resume will not settle it, the same setup runs a first-round interview against those same requirements.
Optional, per job. Lands as an interview recommendation and an evidence note.
What lands on the Greenhouse candidate
Screened creates its own custom fields and tags when you connect, so screening becomes something your Greenhouse views can act on rather than something you read one profile at a time.
AI Screened CV Fit (%) is a numeric custom field holding 0 to 100. Sort a pipeline by it, or filter to everyone above your bar.
Screened CV - Strong Fit, Screened Call - Proceed and the rest apply automatically as results arrive, so slicing your pipeline by outcome works the way tags already do in Greenhouse.
Alongside those, Screened writes the recommendations and the written assessments to their own candidate fields, and posts a note with the requirement-by-requirement evidence. From there, a link on the candidate opens the full Screened report, including the interview transcript. Every result carries its reasons, and the latest decision made in Screened carries a name and a date.
Where this sits next to your Greenhouse scorecards
Screened writes no interview scorecards, and it is worth saying that plainly. Your scorecards and interview kits are how your panel records what it thought of a candidate, and they carry on untouched.
What Screened replaces is the pass before them: reading a stack of applications to work out who is worth an interview kit at all. That comes back as custom fields, tags and a note on the candidate — enough structure to sort and filter a pipeline on, and entirely separate from the scorecard your interviewers fill in later.
If you are rebuilding how your team scores candidates in the first place, our free interview scorecard template is a reasonable starting point — weighted criteria on a 1–5 scale, in Sheets or Excel.
How it runs day to day
A Greenhouse Site Admin connects from Settings → ATS in Screened and approves the access Greenhouse shows them.
You pick which jobs Screened works on, and the stage it should treat as the intake point.
A candidate applies. Screened scores the resume against the role and writes the fit score, recommendation and tag to Greenhouse.
The candidates worth talking to get invited to a phone screen, which Screened runs and scores against the same requirements.
The interview recommendation, the written assessment and the evidence note land on the Greenhouse candidate.
Your recruiter sorts by fit score, filters by tag, reads the note, and decides who moves forward.
It fits your process. It doesn't take it over.
Greenhouse teams tend to have their stages, kits and scorecards exactly how they want them. Nothing here rearranges that.
Screening results appear; candidates stay put. Automating the moves is a choice you make later, once the scores have earned your trust.
Screened writes to its own fields, tags and notes. It never writes into a scorecard or an interview kit, so the record your interviewers keep is untouched.

Common questions
Greenhouse has been adding AI to the product, and which Greenhouse AI features are switched on for you depends on your plan — worth asking your rep. Screened handles the screening pass itself: Greenhouse AI resume screening reads every application arriving in your intake stage against the role's must-haves, scores it 0-100, and writes the reasoning back onto the Greenhouse candidate — so you get a ranked, evidenced shortlist instead of a keyword match. An AI phone screen is available on top when a resume alone will not settle it.
The two sit at different points in the funnel. Greenhouse AI features work inside the ATS you already run — sourcing, writing, and increasingly review. Screened does the screening pass itself: a Greenhouse resume screener that scores every applicant 0-100 against the role, then interviews the strongest by phone and posts a recommendation beside the score. It installs as a Greenhouse AI integration, so Greenhouse automated resume screening happens inside the ATS rather than beside it. Nothing gets replaced — the screening pass just stops being manual.
Screened creates its own candidate custom fields and a set of Screened tags, and manages its own webhooks so it hears about new applications and stage changes. It does not touch your scorecards, your interview kits, or your existing fields.
Not automatically everyone. Screening runs on the jobs you've switched on in Screened, and reads from the intake stage you choose. Applications need an active job on the Screened side and available quota, so you stay in control of both volume and spend.
Only if you configure it. Stage automation ships switched off, so out of the box Screened writes its results and leaves your pipeline exactly as it is. Turn it on when you are ready, and even then a resume result that lands late will not drag a candidate back out of a stage they have already cleared.
Yes. AI Screened CV Fit (%) is a numeric custom field, so you can sort your pipeline by it and filter on a range. The recommendations are written as text fields, so the way to slice by outcome is the tags — Screened CV - Strong Fit, Screened Call - Proceed and the rest — which work in Greenhouse filters like any other tag.
Your scorecards and interview kits stay exactly as they are. Screened writes to its own candidate fields, tags and notes, and never into a scorecard — those are for the humans who interview after screening.
A Greenhouse Site Admin authorizes the connection, and Greenhouse shows you the access being granted before you approve it: reading jobs, candidates, resumes and stages, writing results to custom fields and notes, managing Screened tags, and creating its own webhooks. If your account offers a service account, use one so the connection is not tied to a single employee.
Yes. You pick which jobs Screened works on. Most teams start with the high-volume roles where resume review is the bottleneck and leave executive or specialized searches to manual review.
No, and the two do different jobs at different moments. A Greenhouse background check verifies records — employment history, credentials, criminal records — after you have decided to move someone forward, and most teams run Greenhouse background checks through a dedicated provider. Screened works earlier: it reads the resume against the role, runs the phone screen, and tells you who is worth advancing at all. The usual pattern is Screened to build the shortlist, then a background check integration on the people you intend to hire. That keeps Greenhouse and background screening a later, separate step from screening itself.
Yes. Read the screening note on the Greenhouse candidate profile to understand why a candidate received a recommendation. Screening updates must be enabled. Open the Screened candidate profile for more detail and activity. For exports and review options, see the screening records guide.
Screened highlights potential authenticity concerns for your team to review alongside the candidate’s assessment. Use the written findings to decide what needs a closer look before moving forward.
